ENERGETIC
Stimulation ↔ Inhibition
How channels transmit or stay silent. The dimension of activity and suppression, where flow meets its quieting — where fluence is decided.
Fluence is not the loud signal nor the dead channel — it is the differential between what fires and what is held quiet. A neuron transmits because its neighbors are silenced; a public speaks because some silences are kept open. Inhibition is not the negation of stimulation but its condition: the silence that lets the signal be heard at all. To exist energetically is to oscillate between excitation and quieting without resting at either.
Fluence
The Daturoma replaces the question "what is being transmitted?" with a procedural one: at what intensity and against what silence? A signal is not its content — it is its differential to a background actively held quiet. Inhibition is not absence: it is positive privation, the active occupation of a channel by its own restraint.

MULTISCALAR MANIFESTATIONS
- NEURAL: Excitatory neurons stimulate (✩); inhibitory neurons (·) sculpt the firing pattern by their silence. A signal without inhibition is a seizure; an inhibition without signal is a coma.
- ENERGETIC: A flame stimulates (✩) a circuit of air; a damper inhibits (·) it. Both shape the burn. The fire that cannot be damped consumes its substrate; the fire that is always damped never warms.
- CHEMICAL: A catalyst (✩) accelerates a reaction; an enzyme inhibitor (·) holds it back. Life is the metabolic pattern in which both are present at every step.
- POLITICAL: Discourse stimulates (✩) a public; censorship inhibits (·) it by occupying the channel with quiet. A public sphere without restraint is mania; a public sphere without speech is silence with the lights on.
- PSYCHIC: Attention (✩) selects what is salient; habituation (·) dampens what no longer surprises. Consciousness is the oscillation between sharpening and quieting that lets new information register at all.
- ECOLOGICAL: Predator (·) inhibits prey populations that would otherwise stimulate (✩) themselves into ecological collapse. The trophic cascade is energetics enacted in flesh.
